Testosterone Pellets for Men

Testosterone Pellets 101

Sometimes, men need testosterone replacement therapy. There are a number of reasons for this, not the least of which is a condition called hypogonadism–a condition where the body isn’t producing enough testosterone.

Of course, testosterone is a powerful, all-functioning hormone, and replacing testosterone isn’t simply the same as buying more milk at the groceries. Getting the right dose delivered exactly the right way is essential to restoring functioning of the body.

How many ways can testosterone be delivered? Injections are the method most individuals think of. But patches and creams are also methods of bio-delivery.

Believe it or not, another method exists as well: pellets.

What Are Testosterone Pellets?

Testosterone pellets are small pellets, about 3 by 9 mm, that are actually implanted under the skin. These are slowly metabolized, being absorbed by the body for the next three to six months.

That means the procedure of implantation is pretty simple–they’re just placed under the skin, near the buttocks.

These are a great way to deliver a small, consistent dose of testosterone for a long period of time.

What are the benefits of this method? Creams and patches are self-delivered, but daily administration can be difficult, especially with the risk of giving too high of a dose.

Injections, meanwhile, can cause irritation. Not only that, but the testosterone levels with an injection are front-loaded, when what’s needed is a consistent level of dosage.

How Do I Know It’s the Right Dose?

Of course, individuals must make sure they’re getting enough testosterone and not too much more. Too much testosterone can be dangerous.

Hence, the testosterone pellet provides a great alternative for giving this steady dose over a long period of time.
